Dan Eldridge, Washington County Mayoral candidate, says that he will finance much of his campaign because of his “no strings” approach to bringing change to county government. He says his willingness to invest in the campaign is proof of his personal commitment to the people of Washington County. Eldridge is running in the G.O.P. primary race.

“I’m a businessman, not a career politician, so to gain name recognition between my October 2009 announcement and early voting which begins April 14th, I’ve invested in billboards, newspaper, radio and TV ads as well as the hundreds of miles and hours logged in order to meet with Washington County voters. While I welcome both county and city residents to join my campaign, it does not require a donation. I’ve committed to the people of Washington County with my own wallet,” Eldridge says.

“Some voters have a negative perception of politicians. They feel politicians give more attention to people who contributed toward their campaign. Since I’m not a politician and I’ve financed most of my own campaign, residents can be assured there will be no strings attached to my decisions as mayor.  I’ll listen to their concerns, take informed advice and pull from my experience as a proven businessman to make decisions,” he says.

While out meeting the people of Washington County, Eldridge is listening to their ideas and concerns and sharing his vision for making this great county even better. “Whether I’m at a farm, a business, a home or at a community meeting, the concerns are clear. Voters want a county mayor who will control spending, stand against tax increases and help bring new and better jobs to Washington County,” says Eldridge.

Eldridge, a 49 year-old businessman and Angus cattle farmer from Jonesborough says, “I’ve been overwhelmed with the positive responses from county and city residents. People I’ve met say they are ready for a new way of doing business. They’re excited about my energy and vision. They want someone who knows how to run a business managing the county. Everyone agrees, this is no time for politics as usual.”
